Source was founded in 2003 as Dux Business Solutions, providing management consulting to the agriculture industry. In response to market conditions, the name was changed to Oursource (Pty) Ltd in May 2007. The company trades as Source.

Source realised that the optimisation of the clients’ business included many components that the organisation had to be geared for.   The focus of the business changed to a greater emphasis on the financial analysis, structuring and valuations of farming enterprises. 

Source has assisted large and small local and international firms in achieving optimal valuations, optimised business processes, and has assisted in raising finance where required, thereby improving turnover and profitability in the process.  Source has also supported financial institutions in risk assessment of investments.

Reinhardt Siegruhn and Salwa Petersen each hold 50% of the shares of Source.

Strategic Business Unit

The Strategic Business Unit concentrates on the management of agriculture market intelligence and logistics.  Agricultural projects can be assessed in terms of the technical, marketing, financial and management risks.  A comprehensive business assessment report, business plan, recommendations and action plans can be presented to the project owners and investors on completion of the valuation.  The structuring of the commensurate deals can be facilitated through our strategic partners.

Change management capabilities allow us to analyse and assist with diversity management, Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment and Corporate governance, which have been identified as challenges in the sector.  Source has expertise in the citrus and wine industry in South Africa, as well as management of the up- and downstream value chain.  Start-up companies that are growing rapidly require a diversity of management expertise.  Source will partner with other organisations to conduct specific managerial roles on a hands-on basis until such time as the client can afford its own specialised staff.

 Financial Modelling

Source performs evaluations of farms from the orchard level up, producing harvest projections, cash-flow forecasting, ratio and risk analysis.  These also include what-if scenarios built into robust software developed by the company.  The preparation of business plans, as well as peer reviews are done within the industry.

Source builds management models for institutions and companies to do different levels of forecasting and benchmarking. 

Business Support Services

This unit concentrates on providing strategic planning, diagnostics, valuation and support services to small businesses.  Source has extensive experience in the small business planning, financing and support sector, and has been accredited by the South African International Business Linkages program to perform diagnostic assessments of businesses using the Fundes tool of the World Bank.
